Microdermabrasion can be used as a facial treatment or elsewhere on the body to achieve scar removal, skin resurfacing and the reduction in visibility of acne marks, as well as to simply clarify the epidermis and leave you looking younger and healthier.
Dermabrasion literally polishes the skin, using diamonds to remove dead cells from the surface and deliver skin resurfacing with a deeply exfoliating effect – an action similar to facial scrubs and pumicing, with longer-lasting benefits.
The procedure has advanced significantly since it was first invented, making today’s treatments more effective and less aggressive than their predecessors. Our experts can advise on the best course of treatment for you and your skin, as well as explaining some of the science behind modern dermabrasion procedures – and why they are much kinder to your skin than methods of the past.
Procedures
Microdermabrasion has a variety of beneficial outcomes.
It removes the dead cells from the upper surface of the skin, directly achieving skin resurfacing and related effects such as scar removal and the reduction of acne marks.
When used as a facial treatment, it can leave your skin feeling fresher and smoother, without the need for invasive surgery.
The long-term effects can be supported through the use of cosmetics – and these will also be absorbed faster into your skin after dermabrasion.
At Eden Laser Clinics in Sydney, we use Minivac, a microhydrabrasion method, to infuse the skin with water during dermabrasion – you can read more about this below.

Minivac
We offer microhydrabrasion – dermabrasion combined with a water treatment – using Minivac to remove blackheads and lifeless cells, which are then carried away from your skin by suction.
Minivac combines the scar removal and facial treatment qualities of microdermabrasion with deep cleansing, using water to wash the skin while it is being resurfaced for a more thorough clarifying effect than is achieved through dermabrasion alone.
Aloe vera is added to the list of ingredients, delivering its usual soothing effect and cooling the skin immediately on contact during treatment, raising your comfort levels throughout the procedure.
The combination of these elements offers a less aggressive skin resurfacing therapy, with lasting refreshing effects for your complexion.
