$644.7 Million Spent on Cosmetic Surgery by Aussies

The amount spent by Australians on cosmetic surgery has risen by 15 per cent in the last 12 months. The past five years have seen a steady rise in the amount of money spent on non-invasive treatments from $300 million in 2008 to $644.7 million this year.

The most popular treatments include laser hair removal and Botox. The Cosmetic Physicians Society of Australia (CPSA) survey included 584 Australians. The most favoured choices for cosmetic procedures were wrinkle treatments and skin smoothing procedures like intense pulsed light (IPL) and laser, apart from laser hair removal and Botox.

The age of Australians opting for these treatments is also going down. Uneven skin tone and weight are the two biggest concerns for people. Most people are in their 30′s when they first head to beauty clinics. Popular treatments for the men inAustraliainclude hair thinning reduction and facial appearance enhancement. Women opt for treatments for sagging jaw lines and wrinkles.

According to Dr Gabrielle Caswell, the president of the CPSA, cosmetic treatments are becoming increasingly common as people are living and working longer. People feel young and like their appearance to reflect the same.

Dramatic Increase in the Number of Professionals Going Under the Knife

The results of many recent studies indicate a dramatic surge in the number of people opting for cosmetic surgeries. The trend has been observed across Europe and the US, and is fast catching up inNew ZealandandAustralia. While it is a known fact that more and more peopler are opting for procedures like dermal fillers and other wrinkle treatments, recent studies reveal that an increasing number of professional executives are going under the knife.

According to several well-known cosmetic surgeons, there has been a remarkable increase in the number of estate agents, senior managers, lawyers, airline pilots and other professionals opting for procedures like face lifts and dermal fillers. These professionals seem to perceive cosmetic procedures as an effective way to increase self esteem, boost flagging career and avoid age discrimination.

Unlike earlier, today cosmetic surgeries are easily accessible. Technological advancements in the area have made cosmetic procedures much more affordable and almost painless. Also, they entail minimum downtime. Non-invasive cosmetic treatments take a short time and allow you to resume regular activity immediately after. These are becoming popular as ‘lunch time treatments’. With increasing importance of external looks, the rising popularity of cosmetic surgeries is hardly surprising.

The Latest in Anti-Ageing Injections

Dermal fillers and botox are among the most commonly adopted wrinkle treatments. But anti-ageing treatments ideal for one person may not be so for another. Some people need fleshing for the hollowness that age brings to their faces, while others need to treat the fat that moves down to the jaws with age.

The latest anti-ageing treatment is targeted at those, who have chubby faces that are sinking with age. The new alternative to facelifts is called flab jab or lipodissolve. Thin injections are used to inject medication that burns fat into chubby areas around your face. A celebrity rumoured to use this treatment is Britney Spears.

The treatment can be used all over the body and even in sensitive areas like the neck, chin and face. It works by breaking down the fat, which is then naturally absorbed and used up by the body. Sensitive individuals may experience some side effects like redness and lumps. Several trials are being performed with different ingredients that can be injected to break down fat deposits to give better results. The results of existing injections include fat loss paired with tightened skin, but these are not permanent. The drugs still under trail are being tested for long-term effectiveness.

The Rise of Cost-Effective Facial Rejuvenation Techniques

A wide range of treatments to enhance facial skin are available in the market. A lot of these have been inaccessible to common people because of their high prices. Skin specialists and plastic surgeons are now offering procedures that are inexpensive yet effective in treating tired and loose skin.

Most of these procedures are non-invasive and combine procedures like dermal fillers and other wrinkle treatments. Non-invasive procedures entail minimum or no downtime and are pain free. Doctors are proposing facial rejuvenation plans that combine more than one of these treatments and are customized according to the differing needs of patients.

More and more people are opting for non-invasive treatments because of the minimal downtime involved and affordable cost. The treatment plans largely consist of dermal fillers and inject-able gels that make your face look full and youthful. The gels smoothen out fine lines and wrinkles. Low cost rejuvenation procedures also include laser treatments like laser rejuvenation and fractional resurfacing that make use of heat to stimulate collagen production and naturally increase skin elasticity.

Laser treatments also heal damaged skin and expose young, fresh looking skin. All these treatments require more than one sitting and are administered over a period of few weeks. The results are often visible right from the first treatment.
